Adeiladwyd yr ysgol o gerrig lleol gyda ffenestri mawr ar bob pen.
Y prifathro cyntaf oedd Mr Joseph Jones a oedd yn byw yn tŷ’r ysgol yn y pentref.
Roedd yr ysgol yn dechrau am 9 y.b. ac yn gorffen am 3.30 y.p.
Yn y dyddiau cynnar roedd plant o’r pentref ac o’r ardal gyfagos ym Mhencaer yn cerdded i’r ysgol gan nad oedd bysiau na cheir. Roedd rhai yn gwisgo clocsiau ar eu traed.
Pan agorwyd yr ysgol nôl yn y 19eg ganrif byddai’r plant yn dod â’u pecyn bwyd eu hunain gan nad oedd cinio ysgol. Cariwyd dŵr o’r ffynnon oedd gerllaw.
Mae cyn-ddisgyblion yn cofio bod y bechgyn yn gwisgo trowsus byr, crys a siaced neu siwmper, tra bod y merched yn gwisgo ffrogiau neu piner.
Rheolau’r ysgol oedd i wrando’n astud, i weithio’n galed ac yn dawel ac i beidio mynd i fyny i’r pentref yn ystod oriau ysgol. Y gosb fwyaf oedd i gael y gansen.
Dysgwyd amrywiaeth o bynciau gan gynnwys dysgu tablau a chynhyrchu llawysgrifen taclus.
Roedd y plant yn chwarae amrywiaeth o gemau ar yr iard fel hopscotch, rownderi, cuddio a.y.b.
Caewyd yr ysgol yn 1958 a throsglwyddwyd y plant i Ysgol Wdig.
St. Nicholas School was opened in 1869 and was closed in 1958.
The school was built from local stone with large windows at each end.
The first headmaster was Mr Joseph Jones who lived in the school house in the village.
School would start at 9a.m. and finish at 3.30p.m.
In those early days children from the village and surrounding area in Pencaer walked to school as there were no buses or cars. Some wore clogs on their feet.
When the school opened back in the 19th century the children would bring their own packed lunch to school as there was no school dinner.
Water was carried from a nearby well.
Past pupils remember that the boys wore short trousers, a shirt and jacket or jumper while the girls wore dresses or pinafore dresses.
The school rules were to listen carefully, to work hard and quietly and not to go up to the village during school time. The worst punishment for misbehaving was to have the cane.
The children were taught a variety of subjects which included learning their tables and producing neat handwriting.
The children played a variety of games on the yard such as hopscotch, rounders, hide and seek etc.
The school was closed in 1958 and the children were transferred to Goodwick School.
